Hi Matthew!

I'm thinking that the way to make it click for them is to be with them on a story and tweet the updates myself so they can see the whole process and how easy it is.

My father's paper is just getting up and running with Twitter and they have someone from there coming to the convention and will be tweeting it. I think that's fantastic. I hope your coverage goes well and thanks for reading!

Hey - great post. I'm going through the same pain right now in my newsroom (Rocky Mountain News.)

Unfortunately, I don't know that there is any solid solution. Reporters seems very reluctant to adopt any sort of new technology or publishing methods. The only thing I've found that helps is to put a Twitter feed on our development site and use my phone to show them just how quickly and effectively they can update.

We are starting to use RSS based feeds along with our stories (baby steps you know.) Here is a current example, although the RSS is somewhat spotty right now http://tinyurl.com/5zuby5

Being a Denver paper, we're also hoping to do massive Twitter coverage of the DNC. Here's hoping that works...
